Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said the State government will extend all support to private companies keen on setting up fishling production centres in the State. At present, there are 24 government fishling production centres spread over 389 acre in the State. Among these, fishling production is being taken up is some centres and there was a need to commence production in the other centres, he said at a meeting with department officials here on Saturday. During 2019-20, a total of 2.11 crore fishlings were produced and in 2020-21, 2.40 crores were produced, he said, adding: “If production commences at the other centres that are spread over 179 acres, 23 crore fishlings could be produced.” The Minister instructed officials to clear the silt and take up repairs to damaged pipelines besides digging borewells at these centres and commence operations. “If required, execute these works under NREGS,” he said.
Srinivas Yadav directed the officials to explore the possibility of commencing operations in some of these centres in association with private companies. “Government will extend all support to private companies if they come forward to set up fishling production centres,” he said.
