  • Description
  • The Ring Seine method of fishing was introduced in Kerala in the 80s and soon grew in numbers, size and horse power across the state and became the most efficient way to catch pelagic fishes like sardine, mackerel and anchovy.

This film was shot at sea off Alappad, and is probably the first documentary of this fishing technique in India. This is also the first in a series of short films titled "Fishing Methods of India", directed by VN Roy of the South Indian Federation of Fishermen Societies (SIFFS), working among small boat fishermen in South India.
