  • Description
  • This film focuses on a pioneering research project undertaken in the Caribbean basin by the Smithsonian Institute Division of Natural Museum of History. The project contributed to an understanding of reef ecosystems and the vital role they play in providing future food supplies for the world. Spectacular underwater cinematography reveals previously unstudied reef formations. Back in the laboratory, scientists attempt to recreate these reef systems and apply their growing knowledge of plant production, solar energy and sea life to enhance the world's food supply.
