  • Description
  • The documentary provides an informational insight into the South Indian Fisherfolk Festival, held in 2002 in Trivandrum, Kerala. The South Indian Federation of Fishermen Societies had decided to organise the first-ever such festival, where the fisherfolk from the four southern states in India as well as from Sri Lanka, could come together to share their culture and knowledge of their communities. Each cultural event of the fisher people showcased in the movie – from special songs sung during hauling the nets to dances by women during marriage celebrations – leaves the viewer with a desire to learn more about these cultures. As evident from clips in the film, the festival was visited by non-fisher people as well, thereby communicating to the others about the difficult yet celebrated lives of the fisher people.
